A guide on how to apply for Indian Visa

Introduction
All the foreign nationals need to possess a valid Passport along with Visa obtained from Indian Mission / Post. Applicants can seek regular Visa by following the process at application link followed by interview scheduled. For some countries, there is an option for applying online for e-Visa.

Government of India issues following types of Visa- e-Visa, Business Visa, Tourist Visa, Student Visa, Medical Visa, Conference Visa, Employment Visa, Diplomatic Visa, Transit Visa, Missionaries Visa, Entry Visa, Emergency Visa, Journalist Visa, Permit to re-enter within 2 months, Intern Visa, Research Visa and Film Visa.

Visa Processing Time
Minimum three working days would be required by Indian Mission/ Post to process Visa Application based on the nationality excluding special cases.

Indian Visa Fees
The Fee structure depends on the type of Visa and its duration. It comprises of Basic Fee, Processing Fee, and Special Fee. Fees will be charged after the completion of online process. Remember, the fees once paid shall be non-refundable even if visa is not granted, visa application is withdrawn, visa is issued for shorter span of time, returned or in any other cases.

Instructions for Indian e-Visa

1. Indian e-Visa can be applied within 3 categories- Tourist Visa, Medical Visa and Business Visa. Click here  for Registration.
2. Applicant needs to apply minimum 4 days before the date of arrival within 120 days of period. For example, if applicant is applying for visa on 1st August then he can select the date of arrival between 5th August to 4th December.

• Documents required for uploading- Recent front-facing photograph with white background and a photo page of passport where all the personal details (like name, nationality, date of birth etc.) are mentioned have to be uploaded while applying online. The application can be rejected if rules are not followed as per the govt. norms.
• E-Visa Fees will be applicable with the additional 2.5% Bank transaction charges. Fees has to be paid at least 4 days prior the date of arrival to process your application. The Visa charges vary for each country. Click here to know the fees applicable for your country.

1. E-Visa fees is non-refundable once it is paid.
2. Applicant needs to carry a copy of Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) while travelling to India. Make sure your ETA status is ‘GRANTED’ in Visa Status. Click here to check it.

Documents Requirements

• For e-Tourist Visa- Scanned page of passport containing personal details and photograph.
• For e-Medical Visa- Scanned page of passport containing personal details and photograph. Copy of Letter from the concerned Indian Hospital.
• For e-Business Visa- Scanned page of passport containing personal details and photograph.

Copy of Business Card.

• The scanned page of passport must be in PDF format with size of 10 KB- 300 KB.
• The digital photograph has to be uploaded in all the cases with following requirements-
